About the reserve

We conserve a large area of algarrobo woodlands, blanqueales (saline flats) and western grasslands through grazing management strategies applied over time. Following a fire, we recorded the appearance of new plant species in the area.

Mesquite woodlands

Neltuma (mesquite) woodlands characteristic of the Litoral Oeste, with specimens managed through formative pruning of regrowth.

Saline flats

A singular ecosystem with white clay soils that harbour specialised vegetation adapted to extreme conditions.

Grasslands and riparian forests

A diversity of habitats including natural grasslands and forests associated with watercourses, enriching the area's biodiversity.

Integrated conservation management

Grazing management strategies sustained over time, control of invasive woody species and formative pruning of resprouted mesquite trees.
