Coquimbo
Conservation of parkland forests with Chaco influence, natural grasslands, riparian forests and a dense grove of Caranday Palm (Trithrinax campestris)
About the reserve
Located on the boundary between two contrasting geological formations, this reserve is home to natural grassland formations on "crystalline" and on "Cretaceous" substrates. It also harbours Chaco park forest at the south-eastern limit of its distribution, and a significant grove of Caranday Palm.

Conservation priorityA small bird. The male is a glossy blue-black. It rises and falls in short flights while singing. It inhabits grasslands, open fields and roadsides. Its main threats are the loss of grasslands and the intensive use of agrochemicals. Maintaining grasslands and natural field margins favours its presence.
